Dream Agency Training Camp (2)
After several days of intense physical training, the first day of rest had finally arrived.
Everyone was free to spend their time as they wished.
Na Junho, Go Jihun, and Seo Seongmin naturally headed to the weight training room as soon as they woke up.
“Seniors, please get some rest today.”
I was surprised and tried to stop them, but
“We’re just going to do our morning workout and then rest.”
I received an answer that made me shake my head.
I really can’t live like this.
“Anyone want to play foot volleyball outside?”
Park Seongju suddenly raised his hand and asked.
“Do we even have a foot volleyball?”
“I think I saw a few in the storage room earlier.”
“Oh, that sounds fun.”
Oh Seokhun seemed interested and jumped up.
Then, Oh Seokhun and Park Seongju went around looking for teammates.
“Woojin, you’ll play too, right?”
“If you’re playing, hyung [older brother/male friend], I have to play too.”
Choi Woojin nodded without a moment’s hesitation.
Park Seongju busily wandered around and found So Youngjun in front of the mirror.
“Youngjun hyung, join us.”
“Ugh, no thanks, you guys don’t know how to have fun. Are you trying to sweat from the morning even on your day off?”
So Youngjun was busy fixing his hair, getting ready to go out.
“Where are you going, hyung?”
“I came to a world-class resort; it’s not polite not to enjoy it here, right?”
“Hyung, it’s daytime now. Clubs aren’t open yet.”
“Sweating will ruin my hair.”
“Are you really not going to play? Foot volleyball can be really fun.”
“You guys go ahead.”
No matter how much Park Seongju pleaded, it seemed difficult to change So Youngjun’s mind.
In the end, Oh Seokhun, Park Seongju, Choi Woojin, Jung Inkyu, Lee Juhyuk, and I went outside together.
We grabbed several soccer balls and headed to the field.
In the corner of the field, a net was already set up, and lines were drawn, so there was no need for any special preparation.
“Let’s practice a bit first.”
I tried to get a feel for the ball by bouncing it a few times with my foot.
Tick.
Tick.
Each time I touched it with my foot, the ball flew in a direction I didn’t expect at all.
“This is difficult.”
I hadn’t played many sports with my feet, so it was hard.
It didn’t seem like practicing a few times right now would make a difference.
It’ll probably get better if I just play.
“Okay, Seokhun, Seongju, and Woojin, you guys are a team.”
I said, motioning for Jung Inkyu and Lee Juhyuk, who were nearby, to come to my side.
“Athlete team versus support team, nice. Let’s show them that athletes aren’t a big deal.”
“Okay, let’s win this properly.”
I high-fived Jung Inkyu and Lee Juhyuk, burning with fighting spirit.
“Are you sure you’re okay with that team composition?”
Park Seongju scanned our team composition and tilted his head, asking.
“What’s wrong with our team?”
“Well, it just seems like you’re going to be severely outmatched.”
Park Seongju stretched and didn’t stop sneering.
“What are you talking about? Everyone here has worked out before.”
I could feel my competitive spirit boiling inside me.
“Seongju is really provoking us. Our teamwork is no joke.”
Jung Inkyu had the same reaction.
“It’s no fun if we just play. Let’s bet something.”
Oh Seokhun said casually, juggling the ball around.
“How about getting splashed with a bucket of water?”
“Deal.”
That’s how the bet was made.
“Inkyu, Juhyuk-ssi [term of respect], let’s win this. Fighting!”
“Let’s show them that current athletes are nothing special!”
“You’re all dead!”
Our team gathered together, high-fived, and burned with fighting spirit.
“Is everyone warmed up now?”
“Yes, let’s start right away.”
“First to 10 points.”
Finally, the 3:3 foot volleyball game began.
Tuk. Tuk.
At first, we lightly passed the ball back and forth, and the rally continued.
Tuk. Tuk.
It was still a scouting phase, and there were no aggressive attacks.
Moreover, everyone here wasn’t used to sports with their feet, so it was even more so.
The early game was decided not by sharp attacks but by someone’s mistake.
Tick.
“Huh? Why is it flying like that?”
The ball that Park Seongju kicked soared high into the sky and flew backward.
“Hey! Park Seongju! How can you kick it there?”
Oh Seokhun looked at him with a dumbfounded expression.
In the meantime, Choi Woojin quickly ran and succeeded in changing the direction, but when it passed Park Seongju’s foot again, it went completely out.
“Nice! Clean first point!”
I, Jung Inkyu, and Lee Juhyuk clung to each other and celebrated the first score.
After that, the rally continued, and weaknesses began to be revealed clearly.
“Ah! My mistake.”
“Sorry, sorry.”
Whenever the ball flew towards Park Seongju, it flew to a place that no one expected at all.
“Ha… Park Seongju! Look at your feet when you kick. Don’t just swing.”
“Seongju sunbae [senior] must only be good at baseball.”
Oh Seokhun and Choi Woojin were running around, trying to fix Park Seongju’s mistakes, and didn’t even have time to catch their breath.
“Found the weak spot. From now on, our team will unconditionally send it there.”
I pointed at Park Seongju and laughed.
“Is this going to end too easily?”
Jung Inkyu couldn’t hold back his laughter.
“It’s just starting now. I’m starting to get the hang of it.”
Park Seongju seemed to want to protect his last bit of pride, but
Tick.
Tick.
It still seemed difficult for anyone to predict where the ball that touched his foot would fly.
Meanwhile, Go Jihun, Na Junho, Jang Sooyoung, Choi Junghwan, Seo Seongmin, and Donald Watson, who had come out to see us, were watching our game.
Our game was quite exciting, and everyone sat down and watched without taking their butts off their seats.
The score was widening to 6:2.
However, it wasn’t like our team’s skills were overwhelmingly superior.
Tick.
“Ah! Sorry!”
“Representative Kang! Focus!”
Not to mention me,
“Inkyu! What are you doing!”
Jung Inkyu also showed a considerable amount of missed kicks.
It was fortunate that he wasn’t as bad as Park Seongju.
There was only one ace on this foot volleyball court.
Tak!
“Oh! Nice shot!”
As Lee Juhyuk warmed up, he showed off shots that were close to miracles.
He quickly moved and covered up for my and Jung Inkyu’s mistakes, and he even took the initiative to attack with flying kicks.
Tak!
“Nice, Juhyuk!”
Jung Inkyu and I high-fived Lee Juhyuk and raised the corners of our mouths.
“Ah, honestly, that team is nothing without Juhyuk.”
Park Seongju couldn’t hide his frustration as he brought the ball back.
His face was even red, as if his competitive spirit was burning at its peak.
But,
Tick!
Tick!
The ball that flew to Park Seongju still flew to a place that his teammates couldn’t catch.
In the end,
Tick!
His footwork didn’t save the team until the very end.
Our team won with a score of 10:4.
“Let’s quickly go get a bucket of water each.”
“You guys sit here.”
Especially Jung Inkyu and I, who were grinning, brought a bucket of water.
In the meantime, Oh Seokhun, Park Seongju, and Choi Woojin were preparing to get splashed with water.
“We’re giving you strength in this hot weather.”
We each stood in front of one person and poured the water in the bucket onto their faces with all our might.
Splash-
Splash-
Splash-
The three of them were refreshed by the water, and one game was over.
“Let’s play another round.”
“Let’s do it with the same members. Let’s cheer up and pay them back properly.”
Oh Seokhun and Park Seongju’s eyes were burning with competitive spirit.
Choi Woojin was the same.
“Those pitchers over there, join us. Let’s play together.”
“Are we allowed to join?”
Perhaps the game they were watching looked fun, the six people who were watching stood up and approached at my gesture.
Now that six more people had joined, the size increased to 5:5.
Go Jihun, Choi Junghwan, and Seo Seongmin joined Oh Seokhun’s team, and Na Junho, Jang Sooyoung, and Donald Watson joined our team.
We decided on a timing and unconditionally replaced players, with one substitute player for each team.
“This time, we’re getting splashed with a bucket of water again.”
“Deal.”
Before I could even finish speaking, Park Seongju clenched his fist and answered.
Tuk. Tuk.
Because new members had joined, another scouting phase unfolded this time as well.
But there was an unexpected hole in our team.
Tick.
As soon as it touched Donald Watson’s foot.
“Uh, uh?”
Even if Lee Juhyuk quickly ran to cover, it flew to a place that was difficult to cover.
“Watson!”
“I’m sorry. It’s difficult because it’s my first time.”
Watson smiled awkwardly.
The game continued again like that, but
Tuk. Tuk.
Tick!
“Nice!”
“Ah… Watson!”
Whenever the opposing team sent it to Watson, they succeeded in scoring.
Watson’s reflexes were great, so he moved faster than anyone else to the course where the ball was flying, but
Tick!
It was a mess as soon as it touched his foot.
“Oh my god! Watson.”
“I’m sorry.”
While our team was frustrated, the opposing players, including Park Seongju, couldn’t hide their smiles of joy.
The game was fiercely contested, with neither team taking the lead at 5:5.
Dressed up and with his hair neatly styled, So Youngjun and Michael Scott came out and watched our game.
In particular, So Youngjun seemed to be enjoying it, unlike when he had firmly said he didn’t want to sweat.
“Youngjun, Scott. Come in now.”
I gestured for the two of them to come in.
“Can we really go in?”
“Come in quickly.”
That’s how So Youngjun joined our team, and Michael Scott joined the opposing team, and the game continued.
We continued the game, constantly replacing players.
“Nice shot!”
“Agh!”
Every time a kick occurred, cheers or exclamations erupted.
The game proceeded much more fiercely than before due to the hole match between Park Seongju and Donald Watson.
The key was how well you supported the two hole players.
In the end, the ball that flew to Watson became the deciding point.
Tick!
“Ah… that’s too bad.”
“Yes! We won.”
The two teams’ joys and sorrows were mixed with Watson’s last kick.
This time, it was our team’s complete defeat.
Watson gestured to his teammates, including me, that he was sorry.
Splash-
Splash-
Thanks to that, we were able to wash away the sweat with cool water.
Another game ended like that, and when I looked at the clock, two hours had already passed.
“Let’s stop here now. We have to go out and have fun too.”
“Foot volleyball is really fun. Let’s do it again on our day off.”
“Yeah, it would be fun to do it for an hour every morning on our day off. We’re sticking with the same members.”
“I need to practice this too.”
Park Seongju tried to trap the ball, but this time again, the ball flew far away.
“Seongju. Seriously, you’re too bad, even if you try.”
Oh Seokhun shook his head.
“It’s because it’s my first time doing it with my feet. I’ll definitely get better if I practice.”
“Hey, but we have to practice baseball now. How can we practice foot volleyball too?”
“I really don’t feel good about losing even though it’s not baseball.”
He seemed to be burning with a competitive spirit that wanted to do even this well.
We dragged our sweat-soaked bodies back to the dorm to take a shower.
After a round of foot volleyball matches, some players gathered in groups of three or five and started traveling around the surrounding area.
It seemed even sweeter because it was a break after a tough training session.
So Youngjun and Michael Scott went to a stylish club located on the beach as soon as the sun went down and spent time there.
They also met Koreans there and greeted them happily.
As soon as the short day of rest ended, our training continued.
