< #209. Dealing with Trash >
Sky Lounge Cafe.
Kim Sun-tae glared at Haru, his eyes promising murder for ruining his day.
However, Sun-tae was silenced by Ahn Seo-eun’s next words.
“Ah, is this the ‘trash’ Haru mentioned the other day?”
Sun-tae’s chin trembled as he asked,
“D-Do you two… know each other?”
“Yes, we’re what you’d call these days…” Haru interjected, answering for her.
“Best friends.”
“B-Best friends…”
Seo-eun nodded with a kind face and continued, “Yes, Mr. Trash, Haru is not a ‘crazy woman,’ but my dearest friend. I don’t think there’s any reason for us to continue this blind date, right?”
“N-No, that’s not it… I think there’s some misunderstanding…”
Kim Sun-tae didn’t want to lose this woman, who was perfect in terms of background and appearance, even though the damage was already done. But he couldn’t think of an excuse to hold onto her.
Seo-eun looked straight at him and nodded. “I’ll explain everything to my father. I’ll tell him that the second son of Songyang Group is a troublemaker, and he should reconsider the material supply agreement.”
At the mention of the company, Kim Sun-tae felt a jolt of electricity in his head.
His business had been sluggish lately, and if such a big contract fell through because of him, he could be removed from the line of succession.
“Wait a minute. Let’s keep our personal and professional lives separate. My personal liking for women has nothing to do with work.”
In response to his desperate plea, Seo-eun smiled and replied, “I wish the world were that fair, but personal matters do affect professional ones. We’ll review it thoroughly, and if there are no problems, it will proceed normally. Are you feeling guilty?”
“Huh? N-N-No?!”
Seo-eun gestured towards the exit.
“Then, get up and leave. I’m going to have a drink with my best friend while enjoying the night view.”
“……”
Usually, the one who drops the bomb leaves first, but she’s telling him to leave first.
Kim Sun-tae was momentarily dumbfounded and stared blankly at Seo-eun.
Then, Haru leaned closer to him and whispered in his ear, “Get the hell out of here before I gouge your eyes out with this straw.”
“W-What?”
“Get lost.”
*Swoosh-*
Haru lifted her leg and nudged Kim Sun-tae’s thigh with her pointed high heel. Kim Sun-tae, pushed off balance, finally regained his senses just before falling on his butt and staggered to regain his balance. Suddenly, he felt a surge of anger.
He straightened up and grabbed Haru’s hair, pulling it back.
“You bitches, are you all in on this? Do I look like a pushover to you? I’m Kim Sun-tae, Kim Sun-tae from Songyang Group!”
His upturned eyes were full of rage.
His violent behavior, inappropriate for a high-end cafe, drew attention. A couple began filming his actions with their cell phones.
However, Seo-eun, sitting across from him, didn’t even blink and sipped her coffee.
“It tastes good.”
Haru calmly grabbed Kim Sun-tae’s thumb and said, “Why do people always have to be like this…”
Haru twisted his thumb and turned his arm.
*Crack.*
“Ugh!”
Thanks to working out more than usual due to her YouTube activities, Haru’s strength and grip were much stronger.
“Do you need physical therapy to understand what I’m saying?”
*Snap-*
“Kuaaak!”
She twisted Kim Sun-tae around in his seat, pinning one arm behind his back, rendering him helpless.
*Thud, thud!*
Then, she kicked the back of his knees, forcing him to kneel. It was a humiliating sight to kneel publicly in a place where many people were watching.
Haru got close to his face and whispered. Kim Sun-tae’s face turned pale.
She clearly had a pretty face, but it was chilling.
“You see that exit over there? When I let go of your hand, you’re going to get the hell out of here without delay. If you turn your head, I’ll break your neck. Go!”
When Haru let go of his hand, Kim Sun-tae ran towards the exit, driven by pure survival instinct.
Only then did the manager and a male employee, who were belatedly approaching, stop, wondering what had happened.
Kim Sun-tae realized his disgraceful behavior only after he was far away. He turned around at the door and shouted at Haru, “You’ll regret this! I’ll never let it go!”
Haru narrowed her brows and started to rise from her chair. At the sight of this, Sun-tae panicked and repeatedly pressed the door-opening button. When the door was not even 50 centimeters open, he hurriedly walked backwards out of the door.
As soon as he left ridiculously and the door closed, Seo-eun, who had been savoring her coffee with a haughty expression, put down her glass and widened her eyes.
“Oh, Haru! What brings you here? Did you know I was having a blind date here?”
Haru smiled subtly at her change in expression and shook her head. “No. I’ve been investigating him since then, and I happened to find him and stepped in. I couldn’t tolerate that kind of guy being at the same table as Seo-eun for even a minute.”
At Haru’s words, Seo-eun opened her mouth halfway, her eyes sparkled, and she gave a thumbs up.
“Wow, well done. That kind of guy just happens to have a kind face, so I almost mistook him for a pure person.”
“Hae-soo said so. Swindlers smile a lot, so they have kind faces and look trustworthy.”
“Ah… That makes sense. But where did you learn those lines? It was very scary and cool! ‘Do you need physical therapy to understand what I’m saying?’ Wow!”
As Seo-eun imitated the tone in a low voice, Haru blushed slightly and replied, “Ah, that’s because I studied Hae-soo’s words and actions when I was working in the Violent Crimes Division. Hae-soo has a talent for making people beg for forgiveness with just her words, not her hands.”
“Ah… I see, you were there together, haha, Hae-soo is scary, especially to criminals.”
“That’s right.”
Seo-eun stroked her chin with her index finger and continued, “Well, I don’t think that trash will end things neatly like this. I’ll take care of it myself, but if that guy causes any harm to Haru, please contact me immediately.”
At Seo-eun’s worried words, Haru looked at the door Kim Sun-tae had left through and opened her mouth. “It would be the best choice for him to just let it go, but we’ll have to see.”
At the meaningful non sequitur [a statement that does not logically follow from the previous one], Seo-eun narrowed her eyes and smiled.
Whatever happens, she was looking forward to it because it seemed like it would be something she would enjoy.

The next day.
*Bang!*
Kim Sun-tae slammed the front door shut and got into his car. There was a large handprint on his left cheek.
The cancellation of the arranged meeting and various other matters had reached his father’s ears.
“What should I do to these two bitches? What should I do…”
Kim Sun-tae gritted his teeth, consumed by revenge, but as he recalled her haughty and beautiful figure, he unknowingly opened his mouth halfway and smiled.
That face, that body, was so wonderful that a few problems could be overlooked as mere quirks.
That foolish smile turned into a lewd smile, and he licked his upper lip with his tongue, nodding his head.
“Yes, there is, there is a way to catch two rabbits [achieve two goals with one action].”
He immediately picked up his cell phone and called someone.
“Hey, it’s me. You’ve got all the info on those two bitches, right? Put a tail on them, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, everything they do, what they eat, who they meet!”

Violent Crimes Division Office.
Three team members were huddled around Oh Gyeong’s seat, and Oh Gyeong continued briefing on the recent case.
“…So, they originally take over and collect debts, but they give out more loans to pay off the original loan, eat the dividends that fall to them, and the other party gets another loan.”
Muscle Monster tilted his head.
“They wouldn’t be able to get a loan from anywhere else, so how did they give them a loan?”
Oh Gyeong snapped his fingers and said, “Used cars, car purchase loans are easy to get. They also sell used cars, so they write a contract for 3 million won as 30 million won and receive the money, then give it back to the customer, or have them pay off the loan.”
“Wow… It’s practically the same thing, but they’re selling used cars.”
“It’s not the same thing, it’s worse.”
Hae-soo took Oh Gyeong’s words and said quietly, “If the loan comes out, they won’t pay off the loan. In the end, the customer’s loan will only increase.”
The newbie, who was stuck between the two muscles, opened his mouth with an incomprehensible expression.
“…Yes?”
Hae-soo nodded as if he understood.
It’s a used car loan scam that’s hard to understand after hearing it once.
People who have already been turned over to debt collection need even a penny more. Those people take out a loan to pay off a loan?
They might think that way just before the money comes in, but as soon as the money is deposited into their account, nine out of ten people think about increasing this money.
In the end, it becomes a vicious cycle.
The newbie frowned, imagining the hellish situation of people struggling with debt.
“What’s the name of the company?”
*Tak-*
Oh Gyeong pressed the arrow keys to display a company logo and replied, “Happy Dream.”

In a rental apartment, a boy who looks about five years old is playing with toys on the living room veranda.
A woman is sitting in a chair in front of the dining table. Her eyes are dark, and her hair is disheveled.
*Zzzing-*
She weakly lifted her slender arm to check her cell phone due to the vibration.
-Happy Dream Team Leader Jo: Customer Kang Sun-joo, the amount to be paid by this week is 5,776,310 won.
“Hoo…”
She sighed deeply and made a call somewhere.
The child puts down the toy and glances at his mother. The look in his eyes is subtle.
-Hey, I’m busy, talk quickly.
“Hey, I’m busy, so I’ll get straight to the point. Can you give me the overdue child support now?”
– …Is it that story again?
“Honey, I’m really having a hard time. I even had gallbladder surgery recently… Honey, please, please give me some child support.”
-Who’s your honey? How long has it been since we got divorced? And… I didn’t want to say this, but my mother recently had cancer surgery and is struggling with debt. I’m also having a hard time. It’s not that I don’t want to give you child support.
“Please… even just a little. You haven’t given it to me even three times in three years!”
-Ha… really, you’re annoying me. Hey, then report me, report me for not giving child support. I don’t even have money to eat and die.
“I’m going to die like this…”
*Click-*
The call was disconnected. She called again, but he didn’t answer.
“Ha…”
The world is resentful. She lived hard, she really lived hard to raise her child without a father, but the price was illness, and the debt only increased as time went by.
Kang Sun-joo weakly turned her head and looked at her son, who was playing innocently alone.
*Zzzing-*
Then, the vibration rang again.
-Happy Dream Team Leader Jo: Ah, and the life insurance we recommended has been approved.
Kang Sun-joo’s pupils shook violently as she looked at the text message. Her head slowly turned towards her son.
*Swoosh-*
She walked towards her son as if possessed.
The son looks at her and blinks with an expression that knows nothing. His eyes are innocently clear.
“Mom?”
She suddenly put her hands under her son’s armpits, opened the veranda door, opened the window, opened the screen door, and pushed the child outside.
*Whoooo-*
Since it was the 14th floor, a strong wind sharply wrapped around her hat.
The child should have been scared, but he pursed his lips, looked down, and then slowly lifted his head and made eye contact with his mother.
The look in his eyes is strangely calm.
Kang Sun-joo’s arms are gradually losing strength.
Then, she heard her child’s warm voice in her ear.
“Mom, I love you.”
