87. Whatever, Demon – 1
He pointed to the spot where he’d been standing, grumbling with a mix of annoyance.
“If I were alone, I would have ended this already.”
“Do you have that Holy Knight with you?”
“How did you know that?”
“I met Priest Euri near the Palquin territory.”
As Ian explained, he felt a wave of relief.
He was just relieved to be alive.
“Anyway, tracking? I caught all the mercenaries near him.”
“The priest wouldn’t have been erasing his tracks.”
“I see. Then let’s get that Holy Knight to a safe place first.”
“I have something to do before that.”
As Ian spoke, the leader sensed something and gripped his sword tighter.
The sound of approaching footsteps echoed in the distance.
About thirty of them.
Rough-looking men, clearly mercenaries, were gathering.
“Found them!!”
“It’s here!! Send the message!!”
-Piiiii!!
A sharp whistle pierced the stillness of the dark mountain.
“The Flat Holy Knight is in the cave below. I’ll hold them off, so take him and retreat.”
-Sreung.
However, Ian didn’t move as he spoke.
He simply drew his sword.
Seeing this, the leader’s lips twisted into a smile beneath his mask.
Even alone, the leader could easily handle these low-level mercenaries.
The only reason he hadn’t fought recklessly before was the risk of exposing the Flat Holy Knight’s location and getting him killed.
But with Ian here, he could fight properly.
One could fight while the other protected.
After easily sweeping aside the thirty mercenaries, they headed to the leader’s hideout.
“Hey. Flat Holy Knight. Reinforcements have arrived.”
“Ugh… Hurry… Hurry and run… away….”
The middle-aged Holy Knight, barely conscious, groaned. He looked like he was on the verge of death.
“Didn’t you receive any treatment before reaching this point?”
“I don’t have any healing potions either.”
“You should carry something like that.”
Ian took out a few potion bottles from his bag.
The leader tilted his head, examining the potion with the red liquid sloshing inside.
It was a different shape and color than ordinary potions.
“Why is there so little?”
“It’s a concentrated healing potion that I made.”
He made it periodically using a unique combination not found in this world.
He poured the potion, created with an elixir manufacturing method from the Eastern Continent, into Flat’s mouth.
“Ugh… Ugh….”
Then, he examined the roughly bandaged wounds.
The wounds were festering due to improper treatment.
‘I need to suture and properly operate. Kirke, support me.’
Ian placed his hand over the wound.
Using the Yakseon Gong of the Yakwangmun, the most renowned medical family in the Eastern Continent, he cleared away the festering areas and poured potion on it.
As the wound bubbled, disinfected, and began to heal, Ian reached into his bag again.
“What is that?”
“It’s a needle.”
He inserted the needle and released the energy of the sun to stimulate the dying Gi-blood [vital energy].
Afterward, he sprinkled the potion on the wound again, pulled out a few strands of Flat’s hair, disinfected them, and began suturing.
“Don’t just stand there, take out some bandages from the bag.”
The leader retrieved the bandages from Ian’s bag.
With his help, Ian skillfully continued the treatment.
“Ugh… Ugh….”
It was a major surgery that most doctors or priests would consider complex.
For Ian, it was a simple procedure.
After making the final suture and closing the hole in his abdomen, Ian channeled the energy of the sun again.
Perhaps because he was a Holy Knight, Flat’s condition improved simply by receiving the energy of the sun.
“Hoo…”
His rough breathing became more stable.
Seeing this, the leader felt relieved, and Ian pointed to Flat.
“Let’s move him somewhere else.”
“This mountain is crawling with mercenaries and Blue Moon guys. It won’t make much of a difference if you go somewhere else.”
“It’s better somewhere else since this place has already been discovered. And how long can you last in a place where it’s hard to get water?”
The leader had no response, as Ian’s points were valid.
Eventually, he nodded, and Ian went outside and said, “Bring him.”
“Okay.”
As soon as he stepped outside, Ian ordered Kirke.
Instructed to find a suitable hideout in the surrounding area, Kirke quickly searched and provided an answer.
A place with a water source would be ideal.
Ian, having checked the route Kirke indicated, walked towards it.
“How far do I have to go?”
“If you go up a little further, you’ll get there.”
Guided by Kirke, they found a small cave with a narrow entrance.
As they entered the cave, likely used by Kobolds in the past, the leader set Flat down and held up an empty canteen.
“I need to get water first.”
“There is a water vein here.”
Ian, holding his sword, shattered a large rock on the floor.
Immediately, clear water began to gush out.
“If you leave it alone, won’t this place get flooded?”
“So, I need to make a drainage hole.”
He used sword energy to create a hole in one side of the cave.
The overflowing water flowed out through the opening.
With this, they wouldn’t have to worry about water.
While Ian worked, the leader tasted the water flowing from the rock and nodded slightly.
It was potable water.
“It doesn’t seem like you’ve done this once or twice.”
“I often do it during the academy’s survival tests or monster hunts.”
Ian answered calmly and tossed his bag.
The leader looked inside and saw food and potions.
“What do you want me to do?”
“Take care of him. I’ll take care of the Blue Moon side.”
“How do you know where they are? And I don’t know if you’ve heard, but there’s a monster in the cave that Blue Moon used.”
The leader recounted what he had seen.
There was a Blue Moon branch inside a cave in the middle of the mountain.
And there was a monster there that even the leader had never encountered before.
“Even I have never seen such a monster.”
He didn’t know, but Kirke did.
Kirke, having accessed the truth and explored Mount Kiledi, revealed the monster’s identity.
‘A demonic beast that can be summoned through the Moonlight Sword?’
‘Oh.’
‘They’re going to make it a chimera, make it lose its essence, and change the contents. There’s nothing special about it.’
‘This is quite a complicated method. It’s hard to succeed. How did you find out?’
It wasn’t recorded.
That meant someone had overheard it and was acting accordingly.
‘Then the answer is to catch the summoner and ask.’
The leader of the Blue Moon must have summoned the being of the moon.
Then wouldn’t he have caught him?
Ian, deciding to investigate later, nodded.
“Even if it’s a monster, wouldn’t it just be a monster? Then I’ll be back.”
“Wouldn’t it be better to go together after the support arrives?”
“I can do it alone. I’ll be back as soon as I’m done, so stay here. And when he wakes up, feed him the potion.”
Ian said simply and went outside.
After exiting the cave, Ian walked towards the Blue Moon’s cave.
Was it because he made no attempt to hide and walked openly?
The mercenaries immediately noticed his movements.
“It’s him!!”
“Catch him!!”
But what if they noticed?
After repelling their attacks several times, Ian found himself standing before a large cave.
Ian’s expression darkened.
Even as he approached, he could barely sense the energy of the moon.
He had expected it to be about half as strong as the tiger he met last time, but…
He sighed, looking exhausted.
“Isn’t it too much that so many things are mixed up?”
Human, Elf, Dwarf, Beast, Halfling.
And in the center, the devil.
In addition to that, only the energy of a crude chimera mixed with various monsters could be felt.
He had expected it from Kirke’s report, but the disappointment was significant because there was so little lunar energy.
“Shaaa…”
Myae only stood guard openly, her fur bristling.
Ian, feeling a bitter taste, soothed Myae and entered the cave.
“I saw it.”
It was a trap with sharp metal blades concealed in the darkness.
Ian lightly swung his sword, severing the thread connected to the trap.
-Kooong!!
After triggering the trap, he moved past it.
Terrible patterns adorned the right wall.
A magic circle was hidden within the patterns.
Ian glanced at it and lightly raised his hand.
-Chaenggeurang!
Just as Haryun had disarmed the spell in the abandoned building, he interfered with the magic circle and neutralized the trap.
After disarming the traps in that manner, he ventured further inside.
Ian tilted his head slightly.
-Piiing!!
A bolt loaded with aura flew from the darkness.
Ian dodged it easily, swung his sword nonchalantly, and after a moment, the sound of something falling in the darkness echoed.
“Shaaa…!”
Soothing Myae, who was even more agitated and bristling, he continued deeper, revealing a large, artificially created cavity.
In the center of the cavity was the monster they had described.
It resembled a huge dog, but parts of its body were decaying.
Between the broken pieces, terribly distorted flesh writhed.
“It’s almost completely changed.”
-Keureureureu….
“Shaaa…!!”
Ignoring the dog’s low growl and the cat’s protective stance, Ian examined the dog’s condition.
It was then.
“To dare to come all the way here.”
About forty people emerged from the darkness.
All experts or higher.
Some were 5th circle wizards.
Ian, looking around at them as they openly exuded hostility, drew his sword and asked, “Is the leader of the Blue Moon here?”
“Ian Brandon. Why are you here?”
Seeing that he answered a question with a question, it seemed no further conversation was necessary.
Ian and the assassins gripped their weapons, and just as the battle was about to begin.
-Kuaaaaa!!
The dog roared, its body convulsing violently.
“What?”
“Finally!! Finally!!”
As Ian turned his head to look at the dog, the Blue Moon assassin was delighted.
Regardless, Ian reached out to the delighted and careless assassins and chanted a spell.
“Let the thunderclouds take their place here.”
The magic of Predion, rarely used because of its immense power, was activated.
A crack formed in the air, and black thunderclouds poured out from within.
The moment the thunderclouds, laden with countless lightning bolts, filled the cavity.
“Annihilate my enemies.”
-Urrreureung… Kwaaaang!!
With Ian’s command, hundreds of lightning strikes erupted from the thunderclouds, as if to obliterate the entire cavity.
