Extra Episode 23: Head of the Environmental Beautification Department (1)
Mornings at elementary school are bustling.
Actually, at my level, I have quite a bit of freedom.
Office workers have to be even more diligent to get to work on time.
I’m a freelancer, so I just need to finish my assigned work for the day.
That doesn’t mean I’m completely relaxed, though.
*Click*. I turn on the TV.
The morning starts with English shadowing [repeating what you hear to improve pronunciation and comprehension].
Today’s topic is brainstorming.
“Brainstorming allows you to share various opinions and generate many new ideas.”
“However, the disadvantages are also clear. The more opinions that come out, the more people need to listen, but at some point, it may become uniform with a single good idea.”
As I was diligently shadowing and preparing breakfast, Siha also repeated after me.
And it always leads to a question.
“Hyung [older brother or male friend]. What is brainstorming?”
“It’s about listening to ideas from many people without judging whether they are good or bad.”
“Is it good to do that?”
“It’s good and bad.”
“??” [expressing confusion]
“When you listen to other people’s ideas, you can be influenced. You might not share your idea because you don’t think it’s as good. And if people are too similar, they might not come up with better ideas because they think alike.”
“Then you can ask different kinds of people.”
“That’s right. That’s right. But if you do it well, your creativity will increase.”
“There are also research reports that brainstorming promotes collective creativity.”
I shadowed English again.
Siha also repeated after me. I couldn’t tell if he was saying it knowingly or just mimicking.
Still, it’s amazing that he understands some of it.
After shadowing for a while, Siha asked me.
“Um, I have to decorate the bulletin board, but how would you decorate it, Hyung?”
Oh ho. Is it time to start brainstorming?
But the only people here are Siha, Uncle, and me.
In a way, we are diverse people.
“I think it would be good to have a timetable, Hyung.”
I wanted to say something amazing, but I couldn’t think of anything other than this ordinary idea because I had a typical classroom bulletin board in mind.
“Timetable!”
Siha recorded it in the notebook he had brought.
Two underlines and three stars.
He also circled it twice overall.
I just said it casually, but if he decides it’s so important, isn’t the decision already made?
“Uncle! How are you going to decorate the bulletin board, Uncle?”
Uncle woke up from his sleep and scratched his stomach with messy hair.
He picks up the camera he was fiddling with yesterday from the sofa.
“Um, I should take pictures and fill it up. It would be nice to fill it with one fun thing every day.”
“!!!”
Surprisingly, a fun idea came out.
Good idea! You don’t have to fill it up completely. It seemed okay to be in the process of filling it up.
A scene full of memories at the end of the first grade.
“Filling it up with fun pictures.”
Siha writes it down in his notebook.
One underline and one star.
No. One star for such a good idea?
Uncle saw that and got annoyed.
“Hey! Why do I have one star?”
“Uncle. Having a star is good.”
“That’s true. But my opinion was better than Si-hyuk’s, no matter how I look at it.”
“Uncle. Brainstorming is about not judging whether it’s good or bad at first.”
“You’re writing down whether it’s good or bad in your notebook.”
“This isn’t about whether it’s good or bad, it’s about the order of importance.”
“That’s the same thing.”
“Hyung’s words are important.”
“My words aren’t important?”
“No. But Hyung is more important.”
“It’s always like that!”
Uncle lies down on the sofa and turns his body away.
And he fiddles with the camera.
It was a gesture that anyone could see meant he was sulking.
“I should ask other people’s opinions now.”
Of course, Siha didn’t care because he had already finished his business.
It was the same as usual.
“Wow. He discriminates against people. He discriminates against people. He leaves after he’s done. He’s heartless. He’s heartless. He learned about respect but doesn’t respect.”
Uncle muttered like that.
“Uncle.”
“Why?”
“I don’t discriminate. I only discriminate against Hyung.”
“?!?”
It was Lee Siha who claimed that everyone was equal under Hyung.
“I’m speechless.”
“I have to go to school now, so I’m busy. I’ll play with you later. Don’t be sulky and watch the house well. Okay?”
“Hehe.”
Huh? Somehow, the lines are like talking to a pet.
The pet demon must have been hit hard.
“I’m busy in the morning too. I’m going to work today?”
“Are you going to work to play games?”
“Huh?”
“Uncle, you have to finish your daily quests today.”
“Oh my.”
Uncle closed his mouth because he had nothing to say.
Well, it’s not wrong.
That’s what app games are like. There are homework assignments you have to do every day. And it’s right to do it all in the morning.
“Uncle. Thanks for your opinion. I’ll use it well later. Uncle, go to game work quickly.”
“I’m really going to work!”
It seems like he’s really going to work today.
Well, this morning is also noisy like this.
There’s someone doing English shadowing. There’s someone doing all the game daily quests from the morning.
It’s true that there are diverse people here.
Brainstorming will definitely work well.

Siha’s opinion gathering is not over yet.
He asked the children even after going to school.
“I’m going to decorate the bulletin board, what should I put on it?”
“Soccer ball?”
Siha wrote ‘soccer ball’ in his notebook.
Whether it works or not was not important.
“And I wish there was a wide soccer field too.”
What Seung-joon was saying was almost about building a soccer field.
“Hana?”
“I wish there was a speaker on the bulletin board! And idol songs come out of it.”
Was it because she saw the smart board in the classroom?
Hana dreamed of attaching an absurd electronic device.
“Yeon-ju?”
“I wish there was a camera. It’s hard to act while looking at the camera.”
Yeon-ju was talking about her recent interests.
Siha wrote down those things carefully.
The direction of the bulletin board was going in an unknown direction.
“Jae-hui?”
“Me? I… Anything is fine. Wouldn’t it be good to introduce what kind of clothes are good?”
Jae-hui threw his opinion in at the end.
Anyway, he’s interested in fashion.
“Jong-soo is okay.”
Siha slipped past Jong-soo.
“Hey! Why me! Why are you excluding me!”
“Because Jong-soo is the class president?”
“What about the class president? Can’t the class president give an opinion?”
Jong-soo was subtly waiting for Siha to ask him.
He was displeased that Siha just skipped him.
“Okay. Then what about Jong-soo, the class president?”
“I think students should study, of course. So I’m putting in a timetable.”
Siha looked into his notebook.
Hyung had already said the timetable. There was no need to write it down.
He just nodded and looked at Eun-woo.
Jong-soo grabbed Siha’s shoulder.
“Wait!”
“Why?”
“Why aren’t you writing what I said!”
“No. I wrote it.”
“Hey. I saw that your hand didn’t move!”
“I really wrote it, I tell you?”
“This, this. Do you think I’m stupid?”
“Jong-soo isn’t stupid.”
“Why are you saying something obvious? Of course, I’m not stupid!”
“???”
Siha tilted his head because he didn’t know why Jong-soo was doing this all of a sudden.
He already wrote the timetable?
“I really wrote it.”
“Let’s see.”
“No. You can’t see it.”
“You’re not showing it because you didn’t write it!”
Jong-soo was full of confidence.
Actually, Siha didn’t move his pencil after hearing Jong-soo’s words.
Of course, from Siha’s point of view, he can’t show his opinion.
Because he’s thinking of collecting all the opinions and showing them later.
Siha knew what to be careful about in brainstorming.
Because if you see a good idea, your thoughts might be biased in one direction.
However, it was a meaningless act from the point Siha asked for opinions in front of the children.
Fortunately, the children were so individual that various opinions came out.
Siha was somehow clumsy.
“Then let’s bet. A bet. If it’s not written, then you have to be on milk duty for me next time. If it’s written, it’s the opposite. How about it?”
“Um.”
Siha was hesitating whether to show it or not, but he thought it was okay to show it because Jong-soo had already given his opinion.
“Okay.”
“Okay. Look.”
Siha showed Jong-soo his notebook.
“Huh?!”
Jong-soo was embarrassed.
Because the timetable was drawn with two underlines and three stars in the notebook.
When did he write this?
“Why is this written?”
“I told you I wrote it.”
“I, it’s weird?”
“Then Jong-soo is bringing it when I’m on milk duty?”
“Ugh!”
Jong-soo covered his head with both hands.
He fell for his own trick.
He already wrote the timetable, but he doesn’t know when.
Siha left Jong-soo like that and looked at Eun-woo.
“Eun-woo?”
“Puhaha. Of course, it’s rap.”
“Woong.”
Putting rap on the bulletin board.
It was a very unlikely idea.
“Yoon-dong. Should we put in dance?”
Yoon-dong glanced at the other children.
“I don’t have anything in particular that comes to mind.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
Siha wrote down that he had nothing that came to mind in his notebook.
A question mark popped up in Yoon-dong’s head when he saw that.
Why are you writing that?
***
Siha looked at his notebook.
Many opinions were gathered.
He has to remove or add more things that are not needed here.
He has to refine the ideas.
“Woong. Should I do it all?”
Siha is not ordinary, so he thinks about doing it all.
First, he goes to find the teacher.
He opens the faculty office.
“Teacher~”
“Oh? Siha. The teacher’s seat is here.”
The teacher waves his hand at Siha.
Other teachers glance at Siha.
Siha doesn’t care and goes straight to where the teacher is.
“Siha. Have you decided how to decorate the bulletin board?”
“Yes.”
“Really?”
Actually, he was thinking of helping later.
It’s important to have enough time to think and consider, so he left it to him for now.
“Then tell me what you need when you decorate the bulletin board?”
“First of all.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
“Timetable and.”
“Ooh!”
He thought a unique idea would come out, but he was surprised that it was more standard than he thought.
“Pictures and.”
“Oh?”
He was surprised because the idea of pictures seemed good.
“Soccer field and.”
“???”
“And.”
“Wait a minute. Soccer field??”
“Yes. I heard that they wanted a soccer field here.”
“I see.”
I know for sure whose opinion it is.
Because there is only one person who would make such a claim in class 1.
“How are you going to attach the soccer field?”
“I have to make it and attach it. I can pick grass from the school and attach it.”
“No. No. You can’t pick grass.”
“Then from the mountain?”
“No. No. If you pick grass from the mountain and attach it, it will rot.”
There won’t be any material costs.
“Woong.”
“The teacher thinks it would be good to cut it with colored paper and attach it.”
“Then I’ll need colored paper?”
“Yeah. That’s right.”
The homeroom teacher nodded.
Actually, a budget is allocated to decorate the bulletin board.
It’s not much, but it’s enough to decorate it.
“Then buy a speaker and attach it under the bulletin board.”
“Wait a minute. Speaker?”
“Yes. Idol songs will come out here.”
“Uh…. Why do you need that?”
“Because listening to idol songs is exciting? There’s a TV attached to the chalkboard too.”
“That’s true.”
It was a question of whether you can attach a speaker to the bulletin board because there is a TV attached to the chalkboard.
Of course, you can attach it.
The problem was that the budget wasn’t that big.
“Hmm. Siha. You’re in first grade now, right?”
“Yes! I’m 8 years old.”
“Um. That’s right. You should know when you’re 8 years old.”
“I’m all grown up!”
“I don’t know if you’re all grown up. First of all, it costs money to decorate the bulletin board. There’s money called a budget that the school gives you, but there’s not enough money to buy a speaker. So I don’t think you can do the speaker.”
When budget problems arise, the range that children or adults can work with is reduced.
Already, the wall called reality was blocking Siha’s path.
“I have a lot of money! I’ll do it with my money!”
Of course, Siha’s answer was beyond imagination.
Actually, Siha had a lot of money.
Considering the amount that the uncle saw and invested from the Imoticon artist’s income, buying a speaker was a piece of cake.
Of course, the homeroom teacher, who didn’t know that fact, just smiled.
“Of course, Siha may have a lot of money.”
The homeroom teacher thinks Siha will have the money to buy a speaker.
I don’t know how much money goes to child actors, but he will probably be able to buy a speaker.
“But you know, it’s also a lesson to spend only the amount set here.”
“Lesson?!”
“Yeah. Then, you can’t use Siha’s personal money. You have to use the school’s money here.”
“Then I’ll invest it!”
“???”
Kids these days learn fast.
He’s thinking of making a school bulletin board by increasing money because he doesn’t have money.
No. Is it something you have to do that much to decorate a school bulletin board?!
“My uncle knows it well!”
Excuse me? Uncle? What are you teaching the child!
“Give it to me!”
Siha held out both hands.
The homeroom teacher could only laugh at the sight.
As expected, the children from 강인 [Gangin] Kindergarten have different ideas.
