The Greatest Crazy Emperor – Episode 284
The Greatest Crazy Emperor 284
Krrrrrrrrrr-
Heavy tanks were traversing the battlefield, their tracks grinding against the earth. The crews inside these Imperial tanks were, in fact, Orcs and Goblins.
“Full speed ahead! We need to strike the center while our allies hold the line!”
“We’re already at top speed, boss!”
Having received only a month of training on the weapons provided by the Empire before deployment, their skill level was, to put it mildly, less than ideal.
Tushasha!
Kwaaaang!
“Ugh! Vehicle number 3 is hit! Return fire!”
“Shell loaded!”
“Fire!”
Kwaang!
The concentrated bio-plasma fired by the medium-sized Chimera Hive Guards was unlike the projectiles fired by ordinary Chimeras. Even tank armor couldn’t withstand its power.
While their numbers were small and their accuracy wasn’t great, they were clearly a threat. Many tanks had already been hit.
However, the Greenskins [Orcs and Goblins] stubbornly overwhelmed the battlefield in their own chaotic way.
“General, the vanguard is taking heavy damage.”
“Deploy the first reserve unit. If necessary, deploy the second and third as well.”
The Greenskins possessed numbers, a racial trait that defined them. They were simply numerous.
So, when the Empire requested troops in exchange for lending weapons, the Greenskin leadership was dumbfounded, but in a good way.
‘They’ll give us weapons if we just provide troops? Why are they giving us weapons for free?’
The Empire, focusing solely on the Greenskin Kingdom’s front lines, mistakenly assumed they were in dire straits.
Hendrik, the head of the intelligence agency who proposed the weapon rental idea to the Emperor, shared this view.
Consequently, the Empire drastically underestimated the number of troops the Greenskins could send. They were horrified when the Greenskins offered five legions at once.
The Empire, responsible for arming them, found itself burdened by the sheer scale of the commitment.
That’s why they reduced the scale and deployed them to support the Elven Territory. Even so, their numbers were overwhelming.
Kwaaaang! Puwhaaak!
“Hive structure destroyed.”
“We’ve taken care of another one.”
The power of the Greenskins, equipped with proper armaments, was formidable. In fact, they were better armed than the soldiers on the mainland Greenskin Kingdom front, so it would have been surprising if they hadn’t fought well.
“Is there nothing for me to do, huh?”
I muttered with feigned regret as I watched the battle unfold. Of course, I wasn’t truly disappointed. It was a good thing if our allies could push the front lines without my direct intervention.
But it wasn’t as if there was nothing for me to do.
“We are gradually pushing back the front lines where only Chimeras are present, but the problem lies with the front lines held by the Elven traitors.”
“Those guys… weren’t they originally resistance fighters?”
The main force in the Elven Territory consisted of the Chimeras created by the Beast King, but an elite army supported them.
This army was composed of Elven defectors, former members of the Elven resistance whose power had waned due to my schemes.
“Yes, didn’t they defect to the Demon Realm and rely on the Creator God?”
“They no longer have enough influence to run rampant in the Elven Territory… but as a military force, they are still considerable.”
Of course, their numbers weren’t that large, at most a few regiments.
But their firepower was significant. They were creating dangerous weapons by spiritualizing their own souls and imbuing them into the weapons themselves.
Cannons, guns, swords, and even crude imitations of our tanks – they were grinding their own kind, or their souls, into these war machines.
It was difficult to push them back even with the Greenskins’ help, resulting in a stalemate on that front.
“They weren’t the kind of guys who would mobilize in this way originally.”
“Isn’t it because the Spirit Realm no longer aids them? Still, it’s frightening that they came up with such a method.”
“That’s right… that’s why I don’t let my guard down against the Elves.”
They had been losing badly since their defeat at my hands, but Elves, by nature, are dangerous individuals with great potential, befitting their status as a long-lived race.
So, even after securing victory, I pressured them repeatedly to prevent their recovery. I toppled the Spirit King multiple times and fractured the Elven society – all for that reason.
In fact, I’m not even sure if the current measures are sufficient. They can’t wield their full power now, but will that still be the case in a century?
After I, or my son, die, and an incompetent ruler ascends to the throne, leading to the Empire’s decline or internal strife.
They will undoubtedly recover. And I guarantee that those resistance forces will resurface.
Because it is virtually impossible to physically exterminate them entirely.
“In that sense, thinking long-term, even if we destroy the Creator God, the Empire’s enemies will persist.”
“Your Majesty, that is……”
“Isn’t it the truth, Captain of the Guard? You can’t deny it.”
First, there are those Hive Chimeras that the Greenskins are currently struggling to contain.
The Beast King scattered them across various dimensions of the universe before I could intervene.
They will likely proliferate rapidly in those dimensions. Perhaps the local civilizations can withstand them, but to what extent?
Conversely, is there any guarantee they won’t return here after multiplying?
“The Celestial Race is the same. They are far more adept at traversing dimensions.”
Minerva, the leader of the Celestial Race, was killed, but not all Celestial Race defectors were eliminated.
Instead, the survivors will seek opportunities in other dimensions, becoming future enemies of the Empire.
“But the Elves are different. They lack the Celestial Race’s ability to cross dimensions, and their reproductive capacity isn’t as alarming as the Chimeras’.”
“Then, Your Majesty, what are your plans for them? Unlike the others, their escape options are limited, so will you attempt to exterminate them…?”
“No, that’s an impossible task.”
The Empire’s capabilities are considerable, but it’s not feasible to locate and eliminate every single Elf hiding across this vast continent.
And it’s not a worthwhile endeavor. Not only for moral reasons but also because the Empire’s resources, which could be used more effectively elsewhere, shouldn’t be wasted on such a futile effort.
“Instead, let’s employ a different method.”
“What kind of method is that?”
“Divide and conquer.”
It’s a strategy I’ve used on the Elves repeatedly. Over the years, I’ve consistently sown seeds of discord among them.
In fact, wasn’t the creation of the resistance forces a result of several attempts at divide and conquer? Furthermore, I manipulated the Elves into hating the resistance forces.
“But this time, it’s slightly different. This divide and conquer will fracture those resistance forces even further.”
“Is that… possible?”
“We have to try.”
The preparations are already in place. All that remains is to offer them a tempting piece of bait that will incite division.
“Let’s see how far their convictions extend.”

“So, you’re asking me to abandon my own kind?”
The commander of the defector Elves asked, his eyes filled with murderous intent. However, the Doppelganger [a shapeshifting being] before him, who appeared human but was not, simply smiled.
“Quite the opposite. I’m telling you to save your own kind.”
“Isn’t that why we’re shedding blood and fighting now? To save our own kind from you Empire bastards!”
He was fighting to liberate his people from the Empire’s oppression, yet this Empire dog, capable only of imitation, was urging him to betray them. It was a thought that rightfully provoked anger.
“Let’s be clear. Your people under the Empire’s rule are not living miserably. While I can’t deny the existence of discrimination, they receive far more lenient treatment than the retribution they deserve.”
“Y, you……!”
“Moreover, don’t they despise you? As defectors who massacred their own kind.”
“You bastard!”

Enraged by the Doppelganger Mirror’s harsh words, he raised his gun, but Mirror smiled, confident he wouldn’t fire.
“Shoot if you wish. But will killing me change anything? Do you believe you can defeat the Empire?”
“Ha, are you so certain of victory? You seem to underestimate the Creator God.”
“That’s precisely the point. Even if the Empire loses, what will you do?”
“……”
The commander fell silent at Mirror’s question. He understood Mirror’s implication.
The battle between the Emperor and the Creator God… honestly, he couldn’t predict the outcome. Even if the Creator God seemed superior, the Emperor was the strongest Irregular [an anomaly or being outside the established order] who had ever challenged the Creator God.
He couldn’t be sure of the Emperor’s victory. But the painful truth was that even the Elves who hated him would prefer the Emperor to win.
“The Creator God views all races as his creations, mere toys to be discarded at any moment. Is there any guarantee he won’t see the Elves as a failure to be thrown away?”
“We ruled the world for millennia before you humans were even civilized.”
“And now you’ve been defeated by the Empire like dogs. I’m sure the Creator God appreciates that.”
“……”
That’s right. The defector Elves also feared the Creator God.
Unlike the Celestial Race, with its considerable strength, or the Hive Chimeras, devoid of fear.
The Elves had undeniably fallen. But what if the Creator God wins? What then?
Is there any guarantee he won’t slaughter them as failures?
“So, I’m advising you to switch sides before you’re abandoned like dogs.”
“Is there any guarantee you won’t abandon us?”
“If that were our intention, wouldn’t we have massacred your race in the first place?”
“……”
Of course, the Empire didn’t spare the Elves solely out of kindness. Even so, the Empire hadn’t exacted more revenge than necessary, despite the historical oppression inflicted by the Elves.
Perhaps that was preferable to the fear instilled by the Creator God, the commander mused.
“Of course, I’m aware that some among you still worship the Creator God. So, this proposal is only for those who are still reasonable, like yourself. It’s a mercy bestowed by the Emperor himself.”
“…What do we gain by betraying our own kind?”
“Separate independence. We’ll grant you a large portion of the Elven Territory: the northern part and the Demon Realm territory north of it.”
“……!”
It was a proposal that exceeded all expectations. He hadn’t anticipated the Empire guaranteeing such extensive rights.
“Why? You know we’ll try to rebuild our strength, right? Isn’t that the Empire’s greatest fear?”
“That’s not your concern.”
As the commander pointed out, the Emperor was wary of the Elves’ potential recovery. But conversely, if the Elves were offered the possibility of recovery, they could be persuaded.
That’s why this proposal was made. Of course, the Emperor’s true intentions were different.
‘There are some defector Elves who can’t be persuaded. They will be separated from those who have been persuaded and will be divided and conquered again. We’re giving them a chance to recover, but it’s not an easy chance.’
Whether it’s 100 or 200 years from now, the Empire will be in a much better position. Because the Elves will be divided and fight each other.”
“Then, consider it carefully.”
With those words, Mirror vanished like a mirage.
The commander stared at the spot where he disappeared for a long time, lost in thought.
