Postseason Live (2)
Our live broadcast was scheduled to begin 30 minutes before the semi-playoff game.
Now, there’s only one minute left.
“Everyone ready?”
“Oh, of course.”
Unlike So Young-joon, who answered with ease, Jang Su-young’s face was filled with tension.
“Su-young seems too nervous, doesn’t she?”
“I’m very nervous.”
“Why are you so nervous when you don’t get nervous at all on the mound?”
I massaged Jang Su-young’s shoulders to ease her tension.
“I think this is more nerve-wracking than the game.”
“Relax. You don’t have to do well. We’re just hanging out.”
Jang Su-young nodded, but her stiff expression didn’t change easily.
Now, I shifted my gaze to Michael Scott, who was sitting next to her.
“Scott, are you in good condition?”
“Perfect!”
Scott gave a thumbs up with a bright smile, as always.
The live broadcast started exactly on time.
I announced the start with a high-pitched greeting.
“Hello, everyone!”
└Oh! The live broadcast is starting.
└The member composition is diverse. Different teams and different positions.
└Scott is here too? Is it possible to have conversations in Korean?
└There’s already talk that he’s become a K-import [a foreign player in Korean sports leagues].
“The semi-playoff game will start shortly. Let me tell you in advance, we plan to conduct a biased broadcast exclusively for our agency’s players.”
└Are you just going to bash the opposing team?
└I’m curious how you’ll handle the match between Go Ji-hoon, Oh Seok-hoon, and Park Seong-joo.
└I’ll watch the game on TV and listen to the commentary here, lol [laughing out loud].
I turned my head to look at So Young-joon and asked.
“Today’s starting pitcher for the Doubles is Go Ji-hoon. What is pitcher Go Ji-hoon like from a batter’s perspective?”
So Young-joon answered as if he had been waiting.
“He’s a really annoying style. It’s better to face a fastball pitcher because you can somehow time it, but you can’t predict a pitcher like Go Ji-hoon. He has a variety of pitches, good control, and can adjust the speed of the same pitch. He’s a very tiring player for a batter to face.”
So Young-joon shook his head as if he was already tired just imagining it.
“Then, what’s the best way to compete against Go Ji-hoon?”
“……Well, if I knew that, I would have hit well against Go Ji-hoon, right? I think I only got one hit this season? And that was just a lucky hit.”
└He’s so honest, lol.
└That’s sad but funny.
└I looked it up and he really only got one hit, lol.
└I like So Young-joon because he’s honest.
“Now, let’s move on to the two players who are forming the core batting lineup for the Buffaloes.”
└Are we just going to talk about Go Ji-hoon and end it?
└Aren’t you going to introduce the Buffaloes’ starting pitcher?
└I’m curious about what you think of the Buffaloes’ pitcher.
“I told you earlier. The concept of our broadcast today is biased. We’ll talk about other players too, but there are so many things to say about our players that I don’t know if we’ll have time.”
└That’s seriously biased, lol.
└The broadcast is neat.
“The game is about to start. Now, we need to talk about our hitters.”
I looked at my watch and quickly continued the conversation.
“The Buffaloes have Oh Seok-hoon and Park Seong-joo. They’re playing as the 3rd and 4th batters again today. What do you think, Jang Su-young?”
This time, I looked at Jang Su-young and asked.
“They’re strong players individually, but what’s scarier is that they move as a set. Like a package deal. Just when you think you’ve barely gotten past Oh Seok-hoon, Park Seong-joo comes up next, so it’s too hard for the pitcher. You overcome one hurdle, and then there’s another big hurdle.”
└Package deal, lol.
└It’s really one mountain after another.
“What was Jang Su-young’s record against those two players this time?”
“If you only look at this season, I won. I think I only gave up one hit combined against the two players.”
Jang Su-young answered, feeling a bit embarrassed by my question.
Then, So Young-joon, who had been listening quietly, revealed his feelings without hiding them.
“Hey, what’s that? That’s so annoying. I hate her even more because she only says what’s right.”
└He says he hates her because she only says what’s right, lol.
└Conclusion: Oh Seok-hoon and Park Seong-joo are both great players, but in the end, they couldn’t beat me.
└So, the winner is Jang Su-young?
└Come to think of it, Jang Su-young was amazing this season. If the team’s performance had been better, she would have had more saves.
“What about Michael Scott?”
“Wow! I was sure that the two players would become stars as soon as I faced them for the first time. They weren’t much different from the players who were called up to the major leagues.”
Scott continued to answer, moving his hands around.
Lee Joo-hyuk hurriedly translated, but the time difference in between was inevitable.
└I don’t know what he’s saying, but I feel like the meaning is being conveyed.
└I also thought I was good at English for a moment.
└He’s showing that you can communicate even if you don’t know the language, lol.
Fortunately, Scott’s free-spirited gestures and colorful expressions seemed to be enough to convey the meaning.
When I turned my gaze to the screen, the game was about to begin.
“The game is starting now. The Doubles are up to bat first.”
“When the Doubles are on the offense, our agency’s members aren’t the core, so we won’t have much to do.”
So Young-joon looked around as if he was bored.
└Show us the dance you danced at the All-Star Game!
└Oh, good! That was so funny back then.
“That’s a good idea too.”
Suddenly, he’s going to dance?
“It would be fun, but……”
Before I could say anything, So Young-joon’s butt was already off the chair.
“Play any music.”
Without hesitating, he strode around the table and walked forward.
The staff played the music as if they had been waiting even in the sudden situation.
As soon as the music started, So Young-joon’s body moved cheerfully.
Michael Scott, who was watching this, couldn’t hide his excitement and jumped out.
“Wow! Fantastic Festival!”
└I turned on the baseball broadcast, but I ended up watching a dance party.
└I just turned it on, what’s the situation?
└I think we’ll keep seeing this dance during the Doubles’ offensive innings.
The cheerful dance was barely able to end when the Doubles’ attack in the top of the first inning was over.
“In the bottom of the first inning, Go Ji-hoon is now on the mound.”
“Finally, we can watch some real baseball.”
So Young-joon sat down in his seat, panting.
I looked at Jang Su-young and asked a question.
“How does it feel to stand on the postseason mound?”
“I’ve never started a game, so it might be a little different. In the bullpen, I get really nervous, but once I go up, it’s not much different from a regular season game.”
I turned my head towards So Young-joon and asked.
“What about the batter? Don’t you get nervous when you stand at the plate?”
“Me? Well…… Our team has never been to the postseason, so I don’t know what it feels like.”
└He says he doesn’t know because he’s never been there, lol.
└That was the funniest thing on the broadcast today.
└Pelicans…… Cheer up.
I quickly turned my gaze to the screen.
“Finally, he’s throwing the first pitch now.”
Go Ji-hoon on the screen threw the ball with all his might from the mound.
“As expected, he throws a two-seam fastball for a strike from the beginning.”
“Go Ji-hoon’s problem is that.”
So Young-joon suddenly burst into mock anger.
“Is there a problem with the pitch now?”
“It’s good that he’s throwing to the corner of the strike zone. But isn’t it too much to throw it so far into the corner? Besides, it’s a two-seam, so it’s a pitch that falls towards the body of a right-handed batter. How are you supposed to hit that?”
“As a pitcher, he can’t help it.”
It was hard for me to hold back my laughter when I saw So Young-joon speaking seriously.
“No, but still. You have to at least let the batter be able to attack.”
└I thought he was talking about a real problem, but it’s just a compliment in the end.
└So Young-joon seems genuinely pissed, lol.
└Go Ji-hoon’s control is a scam.
In the end, a weakly hit ground ball came out from the fastball.
The fielders also made plays without mistakes, as expected of a game with high concentration.
The battle with the second batter was no different.
Two outs were quickly recorded.
And now, the batter entering the plate is the 3rd batter, Oh Seok-hoon.
“Another one of our agency’s players has appeared!”
It was hard for me to hide my joy today.
Oh Seok-hoon suddenly gripped his bat short and took a bunt stance.
“Oh, is he going to bunt?”
However, he only took the motion and quickly withdrew his bat.
Then, Jang Su-young opened her mouth.
“Oh Seok-hoon is really fast. He’s a player who can create an infield hit as much as a long hit at any time. There are many things that the opposing pitcher has to worry about.”
“Our agency’s players really have a style that makes the opposing players tired in many ways.”
So Young-joon chimed in from the side.
In the meantime, the game was proceeding without stopping.
The first pitch was called a strike, 0 balls and 1 strike.
Go Ji-hoon threw the second ball with all his might.
No matter how good Oh Seok-hoon is, it was difficult to hit a ball that wiggled and flew like that properly.
“Ah, he hit it weakly! The course is ambiguous.”
The weakly hit ball stopped exquisitely in the middle of the 3rd baseman, catcher, and pitcher.
The 3rd baseman quickly tried to catch it, but
-Safe!
Oh Seok-hoon had already stepped on first base.
“It’s a shame for Go Ji-hoon. He pitched well and induced a ground ball well, but Oh Seok-hoon was lucky. There’s nothing a pitcher can do about this.”
Now, while the 4th batter Park Seong-joo was entering the plate, Jang Su-young took over the conversation.
“This situation is really troublesome. If there’s a powerful hitter at the plate and a fast runner on first base, there are many things to think about, even if it’s two outs.”
Go Ji-hoon glanced at Oh Seok-hoon, who was standing behind him, and pitched.
Go Ji-hoon created a favorable count with a two-seam fastball,
Whoosh-
In the end, Park Seong-joo’s bat made a swing in the air.
“Wow! That slider completely started as a strike and then curved out.”
I couldn’t help but stand up from my seat and clap.
“How can you not swing at a pitch like that.”
So Young-joon also clapped and shook his head.
Whoosh-
“Strike out!”
In the end, Go Ji-hoon sent Park Seong-joo out and the inning was over.
“It was really a pitch that only Go Ji-hoon could throw.”
After that, the two starting pitchers played a masterpiece pitching match.
Thanks to the good control of both teams’ pitchers, the early innings progressed quickly.
The score was tight at 0:0.
Go Ji-hoon was holding the opponent scoreless for 6 innings.
And now, in the bottom of the 7th inning, it was the Buffaloes’ turn to attack.
“Huh? Huh?”
At someone’s shout, my gaze turned to the screen.
As soon as I checked what the situation was, I couldn’t help but jump up.
“Oh! What’s going on right now?”
A scene that I had not expected at all was unfolding before my eyes.
