Right after the terrible disaster started, Baek Il got an order to report to the central government. Normally, they would have to follow the government’s orders. But Park Min-woo, the leader of Baek Il, said he would not go. This was a big problem because Baek Il was the strongest fighting group in South Korea. President Kim Jung-tae himself called Baek Il to find out why.
“What is the meaning of this?” President Kim Jung-tae’s voice boomed from the screen. “Refusing to report? Every fighting group in Seoul must follow the central government in an emergency! Why is Baek Il, who always talks about justice, acting alone? This is not what Baek Il should do!”
Park Min-woo looked calmly at the screen. President Kim’s face was red with anger. Around Park Min-woo, the other leaders of Baek Il watched silently. Then, Park Min-woo spoke in a strong, clear voice.
“No,” Park Min-woo said. “This is exactly what Baek Il should do.”
“The central government does not stand for justice anymore,” Park Min-woo stated firmly. “I used to believe President Kim Jung-tae cared about South Korea’s safety. But after seeing what happened in Incheon, I’ve changed my mind. The people of Incheon are also South Korean citizens. But what has the central government done? For months, they have called Incheon ‘rebels’ just because Incheon didn’t always agree with them. They even turned other cities against Incheon. And they call *that* justice? No. The central government has lost its right to talk about justice.”
“White-robed Wizard,” President Kim said, his voice now cold. “Think carefully. You are going too far.”
“Yes,” Park Min-woo replied. “I know I am. And I don’t care. I have thought long and hard about this. Is it right to only protect Seoul, like the central government wants? Or should we risk everything to help those the government ignores? I have decided the second is right, even if it means Baek Il suffers. For true justice, we will leave this ‘safe zone’ of Seoul that you talk about.”
Park Min-woo spoke with passion, making his words sound like pure justice. But justice wasn’t really what he cared about. Baek Il followed him because they believed he was the White-robed Wizard, a symbol of justice. Park Min-woo knew he had to give them a reason to support his decision, a reason that sounded just and noble.
He spoke louder, his voice full of conviction. He argued strongly that joining Roman Dmitry was the right thing to do, the just thing to do. It was all clever lies, of course. But in this new life, Park Min-woo had learned how to twist words, how to make lies sound like truth.
“You will regret these words after the disaster is over,” President Kim warned, his voice hard.
“Then let me regret it,” Park Min-woo said, his voice strong. “I will do anything for justice.”
He slammed his hand down, ending the call. Park Min-woo turned to face the wizards of Baek Il. Their eyes shone, bright and full of admiration, like stars in the night. In that moment, as he spoke of justice, Park Min-woo seemed like a god to them. They felt a surge of pride. They were Baek Il. They were wizards of Baek Il, and they were doing what was right.
Baek Il had decided what to do. They would help Incheon. One of the wizards asked, “Should we go to Incheon right now?”
“No, not yet,” Park Min-woo said, shaking his head. A huge wave of monsters was attacking Incheon at that moment. Normally, if you wanted to help Incheon, you would go there as fast as possible. But Park Min-woo had a different plan.
‘Going to Incheon now is pointless,’ he thought. ‘Everyone thinks Incheon will fall because of the monster wave. But as long as Roman Dmitry is there, Incheon will survive. Baek Il needs to arrive at the perfect moment, when it will have the biggest impact. Roman Dmitry must be so grateful for Baek Il’s help that even if he learns who I really am, he will have to accept my importance. Yes, that’s what needs to happen.’
Park Min-woo almost laughed out loud at his own cleverness. Of course, he couldn’t tell the wizards his real plan. He saw one wizard looking at him, a question in his eyes. Park Min-woo quickly put on a serious face.
“We have only said we *might* help Incheon,” Park Min-woo explained. “We won’t rush there right away. President Kim Jung-tae is not completely wrong. During Red Time – when monsters can appear anywhere – Seoul could become more dangerous than Incheon in just an hour. If we leave, Seoul could be destroyed while we are busy helping Incheon.”
His words flowed smoothly, like he had practiced them many times. He spoke without stopping, without a single mistake.
“So, we will watch and wait. We will look at Incheon, Seoul, and everywhere else. We will help the place that is in the most danger. But we are not just sitting here doing nothing. We are already sending people to check on Incheon. If we find out Incheon is truly in danger, we will use our magic to teleport there instantly.”
“Indeed,” one wizard murmured, nodding.
“You have thought of everything,” another said, impressed.
The wizards of Baek Il were amazed. They realized Park Min-woo was wise and thoughtful. He wasn’t just focused on one problem; he was looking at everything. They felt foolish for not seeing it themselves.
“We were wrong,” one wizard admitted. “We only saw the danger in Incheon. We didn’t see the bigger picture like you, White-robed Wizard. Tell us what to do. We will follow your wise judgment. Just give us your orders! We are ready to die for Baek Il’s justice!”
“Yes! Just tell us what to do!” others shouted, their voices full of energy.
Baek Il was united, all of them ready to follow him. Park Min-woo felt a surge of pride. For twenty years, he had worked hard to build Baek Il. In his past, he had been someone who did terrible things. But now, Baek Il was his chance to be seen as someone good, someone who stood for justice. This was his power. And if he played his cards right, he believed he could become as important as Roman Dmitry.
‘Wait for the right moment,’ he thought. ‘The perfect moment to act!’ He held back, even when news came that monsters were attacking Incheon. He calmed down the wizards of Baek Il, who were getting restless, by giving them more of his convincing lies. Luckily for him, he didn’t have to wait long.
The monster wave was already a terrible disaster. But then, even worse news arrived from Incheon. One of the wizards, who was watching reports from Incheon, spoke urgently.
“I just got news,” he said. “Blood Rain has started in Incheon city center. This is very bad. People will die. As you know, Blood Rain destroys all defenses.”
Park Min-woo slammed his fist on the table, making a loud *thump*. He stood up quickly. All eyes turned to him. He looked determined, his face set. “The moment has arrived!” he announced, his voice ringing with urgency. “Incheon is in real danger now! We cannot wait any longer. We will not ignore the suffering of the people, even if the central government is against us. Follow me! We are going to Incheon now!”
“For justice!” the wizards roared back, their voices filled with excitement.
“For justice!”
The wizards were eager to go. With a single word, Park Min-woo gave the order.
“Teleport!”
The wizards of Baek Il used their teleport magic.
And now, as they arrived in Incheon… something was wrong.
This was not what he had expected.
‘I thought Incheon’s defenses would be weak,’ he thought, frowning. ‘Without Roman Dmitry, I was sure the monsters would break through easily. I expected to see chaos and destruction, people dying in the Blood Rain…’
Suddenly, *thwack!* A flash of movement, and a monster’s head flew through the air. Kang Min-ho stood firm, his sword dripping. Park Min-woo stared. There were only a few monsters left. The walls were stained with monster blood, and dead creatures lay in heaps both inside and outside the defenses. But the defense line had held. The soldiers of the Second Defense Line, alone, had won. Park Min-woo’s eyes widened in disbelief.
‘…This can’t be right,’ he thought, his mind reeling.
Just one look told the story. Kang Min-ho moved like a dancer in battle, his sword flashing as he cut down monster after monster. Anyone watching could see he was very skilled. And the people fighting beside him, his team, were just as amazing, maybe even better than anyone outside knew. If this was the real strength of Incheon, then our plan was in big trouble.
Hundred Illumination was supposed to be important *only* if Incheon was in real danger. If Incheon could handle this monster attack by themselves, then Hundred Illumination wouldn’t look so special anymore. Their help wouldn’t seem as valuable.
Just then, a voice came from behind. “Have you come to help Incheon?” Kim Jun-hyuk stood there, looking right at him.
“Yes,” Park Min-woo replied, a little stiffly. “As soon as we heard about the monster wave and the Blood Rain, I used teleportation magic to get here right away.” Even as he said the words, they felt a bit silly. He wasn’t sure Kim Jun-hyuk would believe him.
But Kim Jun-hyuk’s face showed something else entirely.
“Thank you,” Kim Jun-hyuk said simply.
Park Min-woo blinked, surprised. “Yes?”
Kim Jun-hyuk continued, “To be honest, we weren’t sure about Hundred Illumination’s real reasons for being here. We wondered if you were really here to help us. But if you are willing to stand with Incheon, even if it means going against the government in the capital, then I will be truly grateful. And I will agree to whatever you want from Incheon in return. Please, lend us your power. Help us get through this.”
Kim Jun-hyuk remembered something Roman Dmitry had told him – always be careful of people offering help too quickly. Maybe Hundred Illumination wasn’t just being kind. But right now, they needed all the help they could get.
It was only the first day of this terrible disaster. Kim Jun-hyuk knew better than to get too confident after just one victory. He had seen too much suffering already.
So, he said clearly, “When this is all over, I will make sure Roman Dmitry knows about everything Hundred Illumination has done here.”
He understood the situation perfectly. If Hundred Illumination had a hidden reason for being in Incheon, then mentioning Roman Dmitry was the perfect bait. It was like offering Park Min-woo something he really wanted, a reward he couldn’t refuse, to make sure Hundred Illumination would work hard for Incheon.
“Hundred Illumination’s contribution… Roman Dmitry.” Kim Jun-hyuk had said both names.
*Clever,* Park Min-woo thought. Kim Jun-hyuk was no fool. He saw right through Park Min-woo’s polite words and quick agreement to help.
*He knows I want something from Incheon. He’s trying to use us for his city.* Park Min-woo realized.
But even though he knew Kim Jun-hyuk’s plan, Park Min-woo had to go along with it. Because, wasn’t that exactly what he was doing too? He *did* have a reason for being in Incheon, just like Kim Jun-hyuk suspected.
As Park Min-woo looked out at the strong defenses around Incheon, he realized something important. *Incheon is much stronger than I thought.* He remembered his past information about this city. It shouldn’t be this powerful. *There’s only one explanation. Roman Dmitry must be helping them.* He knew the stories of Dmitry. It used to be just a small, unimportant place on the edge of the kingdom. But now, thanks to Roman Dmitry, Dmitry was becoming the most powerful force around. And it looked like the same thing was happening in Incheon. They were growing stronger, and fast.
A shiver went down Park Min-woo’s spine. He looked again at Kang Min-ho fighting fiercely. *Kang Min-ho… he was only an E-rank Hunter before.* Park Min-woo remembered hearing about him. Kang Min-ho had never even thought he could become a D-rank. But then he met Roman Dmitry. And now, he was a B-rank, fighting like a true hero. He was even stronger than when he had proudly announced his B-rank promotion, thinking it was the peak of his abilities.
*This can’t be just luck,* Park Min-woo thought. He knew Roman Dmitry better than most. In his past life, he had faced Roman Dmitry many times and always lost. He knew that Incheon’s sudden rise in power was definitely not an accident.
Incheon… Roman Dmitry was building something here, just like he had built Dmitry. *If Incheon grows as fast as Dmitry did, this whole world will change. Incheon will become the center of everything.*
*But then… would Roman Dmitry still need Hundred Illumination?* Park Min-woo wondered.
Probably not.
No, he wouldn’t.
Roman Dmitry would make Incheon so strong that Hundred Illumination would be unimportant. If Park Min-woo stayed in this uncertain position, trying to be helpful but not fully committed, he would lose everything.
He thought about it simply. The people who became important in Dmitry had joined Roman Dmitry *early*, before everyone else realized how powerful he would become.
It was like investing in a company before it became famous, or finding gold before everyone else started digging. They got lucky and became rich and powerful along with Dmitry.
Park Min-woo was jealous of them.
He wanted to be part of Dmitry too.
And now, he understood something important.
Roman Dmitry was like that gold mine, that company about to become huge.
He knew it now. If he stayed uncertain and didn’t fully commit, he might miss his chance to join Roman Dmitry’s rise to power.
“No. That will *not* happen,” he thought fiercely.
He clenched his jaw.
Suddenly, he understood.
His connection with Roman Dmitry… it couldn’t be based on tricks or clever plans. Only real, honest trust would make Roman Dmitry accept him.
“Monsters!” someone yelled.
“Prepare to fight!” came the answering shout.
Suddenly, from beyond the line of defenders, a wave of monsters charged towards them. They were grotesque shapes, some like giant insects with snapping jaws, others like shadowy beasts with glowing eyes. Hundreds of them crashed forward. In the chaos, Park Min-woo pushed past the other magicians and strode to the very front.
He turned to Kim Jun-hyuk and said loudly, “Mayor of Incheon, remember your promise! Make sure Roman Dmitry hears about what we do here, about Hundred Illumination’s contribution!”
*Crack!* The air around Park Min-woo crackled with power. *Rumble!* A deep sound echoed from him.
He focused his magic. He knew he couldn’t reach the same level of power he had in his past life, not yet. But thanks to the Awakening system, he was strong enough to be a force in *this* world, stronger than almost anyone.
“Fire Storm!” he roared.
*Whoosh!* *Fwoosh!* *Kwakwakwakwakwakwak!*
Flames erupted from his hands, a swirling storm of fire that blasted outwards. The monsters in front of him were instantly engulfed, turned to ash in the intense heat. A wave of fire swept through the charging horde, clearing a path in seconds.
People gasped and stared in awe.
Park Min-woo, the White-Clad Wizard. This was why he was famous across the Republic of Korea, the only S-rank magician in the country. His magic was so powerful it could turn even the strongest A-rank monsters into nothing but burnt remains.
Raw magic energy pulsed from him.
Park Min-woo raised his voice, shouting to his followers, “Magicians of Hundred Illumination! For Incheon’s safety, fight with all your strength! Fight for what is right!”
*Because this is how I will earn Roman Dmitry’s respect.* Park Min-woo thought, his heart burning with determination.
*In this life,* he vowed to himself, *Park Min-woo will become someone Roman Dmitry truly values.*
He remembered the stories of Kim Pan-seok, the legendary hero he had always admired. He also thought of Aleksandr, the name Roman Dmitry was sometimes called, a figure of immense power and mystery.
Park Min-woo wanted that recognition more than anything.
